Everything in one log

Fares, tips and bonuses in; vehicle rental, charging, fuel and business expenses out. Thirty seconds when you park up, and nothing gets lost.

45p mileage built in

Business miles are valued at HMRC's published simplified rate automatically — so the two biggest parts of your return keep themselves.

A tax-year report in one tap

Income, costs, miles and profit for the whole year as a clean PDF — for you, or straight to your accountant.

No January surprise

You see your real £/hour after every cost, every week — so the tax bill is a number you already know, not one that ambushes you.

Straight answers

Do Uber drivers pay tax in the UK?

Yes — as a self-employed driver you report your profit (income minus allowable costs) through Self Assessment each year. Nothing is deducted for you along the way, which is exactly why keeping clean weekly records matters.

What records should I keep?

Your income (fares, tips, bonuses), your business mileage, and your costs — vehicle rental, charging or fuel, insurance, phone, cleaning and the rest. ShiftMetrics logs the daily ones as you go, so the record builds itself.

Can I claim 45p a mile and my rental?

HMRC gives you two ways to account for the vehicle: actual costs, or the flat per-mile simplified rate — not both for the same vehicle. Which one wins depends on your car and your miles; ShiftMetrics keeps both sides of the maths visible so you or your accountant can choose on real numbers.

When is the Self Assessment deadline?

For online returns it's 31 January after the tax year ends. The 2025/26 tax year ended on 5 April 2026, so its deadline is 31 January 2027.
