What you get
Two numbers per shift
Odometer when you start, odometer when you park. That's the whole job — ShiftMetrics keeps the running tax-year total so you never face a spreadsheet in January.
45p a mile, counted automatically
Every business mile you log is valued at HMRC's published simplified mileage rate — 45p for the first 10,000 miles, 25p after — without you touching a calculator.
Miles next to money
Your mileage sits beside your fares, tips, rental and charging. So the £/hour figure you see is the real one — after every cost, not before.
A tax-year report in one tap
When your return comes around, export the whole year — miles, income, costs and profit — as one clean PDF.

Straight answers
Doesn't Uber already track my miles?
The driver app records the distance of trips while you're on a job. It doesn't log the miles in between — driving to the pickup area, repositioning, heading home after your last drop — and those are business miles too. Your own log is the complete record, and the complete record is what counts at tax time.
What is the 45p mileage rate?
HMRC's simplified expenses scheme lets you claim a flat rate per business mile instead of totalling actual vehicle costs: 45p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles in a tax year, 25p after that (cars and vans). These are the published rates at the time of writing — always check gov.uk for the current figures.
Is ShiftMetrics free?
The first 7 days are free and no card is taken — the trial simply ends unless you choose to add one. After that it's £6.99 a month, or £49.99 for a year.
